...as many Alfas it can buy. From 2015. Maybe.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Not chasing German size, market share. Now they need brand building campaign. Maybe Marchionne should put an Alfa badge on Ferrari's rumored Le Mans entery.

This is the first I've heard of the Giulia being based on the Ghibli rather than the CUS.
If they bring Alfa over here and make something I can afford I'd be very likely to buy one.

I WILL buy one. But they have been promising for years, and I was denied the chance to buy my dream car, a Brera, so I will wait and see. Hurry up 2030 so I can just import one of those and be happy, cause these new ones are vaporware until proven otherwise.

It won't be based on either, that's just C&D guessing, but rumors from Europe talk about a flexible, Alfa developed RWD platform, that will underpin the Giulia, the big Alfa sedan and the next-generation Ghibli and Chrysler 300.

As there ever been a comparison test between these two cars old or new? I'd love to see it.

I'd rather see them come back to the US with cars that stand a chance of doing well.
Can you imagine if they'd come back with the 159? It's drop-dead gorgeous, but dynamically it just wasn't up to snuff. It would have been just as slow a seller as it was over here, and Alfa would have abandoned the States again.
With all that out of the way, I wish they'd hurry up :)

It would've done well, like other so called premium mid sizer do. See the Buick Regal, Acura TSX and Lincoln MKZ. The point is that you don't quit if you don't have the desired success, you try again and again and again. Until you get it right.

And the SRT Barracuda as well if I'm not mistaken. I'd thought the Giulia was going to be a larger Giulietta, with a RWD sedan above them.
I'm starting to really think that Dodge will be phased out in favor of Alfa, Fiat, and Chrysler. The 200 is seemingly aimed more at the mainstream midsize segment than the entry lux crowd and there wont be a CUS Avenger. Any Dodge CUV or SUV is made redundant by Jeep and the Charger/Challenger don't sell. The Dart has been a disappointment sales wise so it's future is a bit murky. Their volume leader is now under its own brand.

Maybe. I'm not so sure. It certainly wouldn't have pleased enthusiasts much.
Trying again and again is bloody expensive when it comes to exporting cars. Money Fiat Group can ill afford to squander. Much better to get something you're damn sure will succeed before committing.

Success is never guaranteed, unless you're Mercedes, or BMW or Audi.

China probably.

That would kill them for good. Chinese MG's are worse than BL ones ever been.
I was thinking VAG. Of corse that if the Chinese buy them, they can be smart enough to buy plants and R&D centers for the brands too. And then just stand back and watch.

I doubt anyone wants Lancia, and Dodge has little value without the Ram.

The Chinese are like a teenager with daddy's credit card in a shopping mall, they want everything.

I could swear I read one comparing the 2000 GTV, a 2002Tii and a Dolomite Sprint. The Alfa had the sweetest engine and gearbox (although the Triumph's engine was just as good apparently. Not as sweet, but brutal in its power delivery) and the BMW the best chassis.
I can't for the life of me find it now.
Check out Trigger's Retro Road Tests though. There's absolutely tons of material, and I'm sure they've been compared elsewhere.

I want to say your wrong but I can't.
On a positive slant, Audi's reached that level within recent years, and Jaguar's on its way to being there too.

The Dutch 'Octane' did a comparison between a modified Giulia 1.3 ti, the 2002 tii and a Volvo Amazon. It probably didn't end up in the English Edition. Which is probably the best car-magazine ever.

It's great isn't it?
If memory serves me right there's one comparing a 2002Tii, a 2000 GTV and an Audi 100 Coupe.
